Pixie-Bob's standard

General description

The Pixie-Bob (PB) is a domestic cat with a visual similarity to the North American Bobcat yet a loving, trusting, tractable nature. The Pixie-Bob Longhair (PL) is the longhaired version of this breed.

General description: The goal of the Pixie-Bob breeding program is to create a domestic cat with a visual similarity to the North American Bobcat. This wild look does not reflect the true nature of the cat, which is loving, trustworthy and tractable. The Pixie-Bob comes in the shorthair and longhair varieties. The Pixie-Bob has an inverted pear-shaped head, heavily hooded eyes, stong muzzle and chin. Strong heavy muscular body with substantial boning, like the North American Bobcat. Females are proportionnately smaller than the males.

Allowances: Polydactyl; seven toes maximum.

Penalize: Coat / belly coat too dark. Close-lying coat. Coat too long on longhair. Head flat. Narrow Hips. Lacking a primordial belly pouch. White Locket. Deficient chin or brow. Tail not meetin standard. Cowhocking.

Withhold all awards: Lack of substantial boning / musculature, (fine boning). Any color / pattern not described in the standard. Lack of ticking, or pattern through out coat. A ruff around the neck (longhair). Tail bone shorter than tip of thumb to first knuckle, (approximately 1 inch), and full length tail. Round eyes.

Temperament must be unchallenging; any sign of definite challenge shall disqualify. The cat may exhibit fear, seek to flee, or generally complain aloud but may not threaten to harm.

Evidence of intent to deceive the judge by artificial means, cats with all or part of their tail missing (except those breeds whose standard calls for this feature), totally blind cats, cats having mor or less than five toes on each front foot and four on each back foot (unless proved to be the result of an injury or as authorized by board approved standard), male cats in the adult championship class which do not have two descended testicles, and, at the discretion of the judge, tail faults (visible ou invisible) and / or crossed eyes shall be disqualified from championship competition.
