of Stone Island was found with an unusual litter at the house we had
previously rented one year earlier. Sasha
had run away at just about a year of age, and was seen repeatedly
by the neighbors. On one visit back to the old neighborhood, my husband,
Bill, noticed a very familiar looking kitten. He was startled to see
a brown spotted tabby kitten with polydactyl feet and a very wild
looking face sporting a short tail. It was too much of a coincidence
to believe that it was anything other than Sasha's kitten.
When he asked the new renters about the mother and kittens in the
barn, they stated that since they moved in they had often seen a large
polydactyl male cat with a short tail and that they assumed he was
the father of the kittens since they all looked similar to his appearance.
The mother, who was named Tibbins, was black, tall on her legs, had
a short tail and a short coat. She produced only one litter for the
program. It was her son that we named Samson,
who affected the Pixie-Bob program so profoundly, especially when
