"Maggie
of Stone Island, my third cat, found in a barn in Everson, Washington,
near the base of the foothills near Mt. Baker. She was owned by the
neighbors who lived across the street from my mother, Olga Alexeyevna,
who also took care of the second cat we acquired, Keba.
This neighborhood is where the two met, bred and produced the kitten
I named Pixie. I became the
owner of Maggie but she ended up back with her owners a year later
and was tragically killed by a car when she was far too young."
