"Keba
of Stone Island was found in the foothills of Mt. Baker, traveling with
a dog. He was a very large brown classic tabby that stood to my knees,
and weighed 17 pounds starving to death. He was estimated to be about
3 years old. He had a fighter's temperament, keeping everyone he didn't
approve of out of my mother's neighborhood, but he took a particular
fancy to Maggie, who lived
across the street. She was the only cat to have kittens by him. Keba's
tail was exceptionally unique in that it was unusual in length, being
to the hock, but he also wagged it like a dog, the tail being partly
fused. He is the sire of Pixie,
the breed's namesake. We moved to the country not far from where he
was found and it wasn't but shortly after that he escaped from his large
pen and all we could hear was the howling noise that he made in his
journey back to the foothills. We knew exactly where he was going. He
had been a free soul and intended to stay that way." Carol Ann
